The highlight of this race is that it featured catamaran sailboats made from PPC (Polypropylene – Poslystone Copolymer), a new material produced by Vietnam – Czech Technology Joint Stock Company (Dong Xuyen Industrial Park) and exclusively distributed by POTS – Petroleum Marine Service Trading Co., Ltd. This was the first time such a race had been held in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.
Mr. Dinh Van Quyet, Director of Vung Tau Marina JSC – the co-organizer, shared:
“Although this is an amateur race, the organizing committee has invited five professional sailors with international licenses to participate. This race serves as a foundation to develop sailing sports in Vietnam in general and in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province in particular. Moreover, it is an opportunity for us to showcase the locally manufactured PPC catamaran sailboats — a milestone in Vietnam’s boatbuilding industry — and to introduce our exclusive distributor, POTS – Petroleum Marine Service Trading Co., Ltd., to domestic and international customers.”
To organize this event, Vung Tau Marina JSC strictly complied with all rules and regulations on sailing competitions issued by the Department of High Achievement Sports II and the Vietnam Sailing Federation under the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.
