POTS PARTY CELL’S “RETURN TO THE ROOTS” ACTIVITY
In celebration of the 4th Congress of the Petrosetco Party Committee for the 2015–2020 term, the successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels, the upcoming 12th National Party Congress, the 40th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and the 125th Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, and in the spirit of “drinking water, remembering its source” and “paying gratitude to those who came before,” the Party Cell of Petroleum Marine Service Trading Co., Ltd. (POTS) and Vietnam Petroleum Logistics Services Joint Stock Company (PSL) – both subsidiaries of PetroVietnam General Services Corporation (PETROSETCO) – jointly organized a “Return to the Roots” trip to Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces from April 17 to April 19, 2015.
Leading the delegation were Mr. Vu Tien Duong – General Director of PETROSETCO and Secretary of the POTS Party Cell; Mr. Huynh Quang Tan – Director of PSL; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Deputy Director of POTS, Head of the Women’s Committee of the PETROSETCO Trade Union, and Chairwoman of the POTS Trade Union; and Mr. Tran Tuan Viet – Deputy Director of PSL and Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell. The trip was truly meaningful and emotional for all participants.
After landing at Phu Bai Airport (Hue City), the delegation traveled directly to Vung Chua – Yen Island, Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District, Quang Binh Province, to offer incense at the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap, paying deep respect and gratitude to the legendary Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam People’s Army.

Offering incense at the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap
Continuing the journey along National Highway 1A beside the Thach Han River, the Party Cell delegation laid wreaths, offered incense, and solemnly paid tribute to the heroes resting at Truong Son National Cemetery – the resting place of 10,263 martyrs from 64 provinces and cities across the country.
Amid the tranquil and sacred atmosphere, surrounded by endless rows of tombstones under the blazing Central Vietnam sun, everyone felt humbled before the immense sacrifices of the heroic martyrs.
Some graves bear names, others simply read “Unknown,” yet all have been forever engraved in the hearts of the Vietnamese people, collectively honored with the noble title “Heroic Martyrs”, the pride of our nation.
Returning to the sacred land of Quang Tri in April, we were once again immersed in the nation’s glorious revolutionary tradition and patriotic spirit.
On this occasion, Mr. Vu Tien Duong – General Director of PETROSETCO – visited and presented 15 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) from the Corporation to war veterans and former youth volunteers in Hai Tho Commune, Hai Lang District, Quang Tri Province. Through warm hugs, handshakes, smiles, and heartfelt conversations, the delegation deeply felt the value of today’s peace and freedom, built upon the sacrifices and resilience of the older generations.
In the spirit of connection, love, and sharing, the delegation also visited and gave gifts to students at the Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities – the second and third generations affected by Agent Orange from the wartime battlefield of Quang Tri. Listening to the teachers and students share their hardships, the delegation donated a washing machine (to help the teachers wash bedding for the children), offered small gifts to bring joy to the students, and contributed to tuition fees for disadvantaged children who could not return home and had to live independently at school.
Although the trip was short, it left lasting emotions in every Party member of POTS and PSL.
There are still so many difficult lives and so many people in need of support.
Through this trip, the POTS – PSL Party Cell hopes that, though modest, these contributions represent the heartfelt solidarity and compassion of all employees of both companies, always looking toward and supporting the beloved Central Region of Vietnam.
